Introduction

The Marque of seismic quality.  🙂

Hello and thank you for visiting this site.

My name is Mark Ibram and I am the director of Seismarque Ltd, established in 2019 to provide Geophysical advisory and project management services to the Oil and Gas business worldwide.

I am an experienced company director and business manager with a strong technical geoscience background.  As director of a start-up oil company with a successful offshore Licence application (now lapsed) , I have experience of the regulatory framework of the UK oil and gas industry, and extensive experience of engaging with the full spectrum of technical and financial stakeholders in the industry.

I have worked in a diverse range of companies and environments from small consultancies to large international oil companies in the UK and overseas.  I offer leadership through clear goal setting where honesty and integrity, safety and regard for others are central.  I am an experienced presenter and comfortable engaging with the regulatory bodies, oil and gas operators and contracting companies on a senior management and highly technical level. I have consistently provided innovative solutions to challenges and clear direction to subsurface technical teams.

I have maintained strong technical knowledge and skills with extensive experience of managing seismic programmes, in particular in challenging areas, both as a team leader in a leading oil and gas operator, and as an independent consultant.   I have expertise in 4D and Ocean Bottom seismic for both P-wave and converted wave processing as well as towed streamer and land seismic, including roles within BP as the Processing Lead with BP’s North Sea seismic delivery team and as the Eastern Hemisphere Multi-component Technical Expert.

My skillsets have continued to evolve over time to meet any challenges, extending to interpretation, basin analysis, rock physics analysis, fluid substitution modelling, and Python programming in support of project objectives.

I am happy working in a distributed team when co-location is impossible, and am able to establish effective rapport and teambuilding in these circumstances.

Since leaving BP in 2016 I have continued to work as an advisor and project  manager for projects for the  UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) (now the North Sea Transition Authority) , oil  majors and smaller independent oil companies.  In addition, I acted as an external examiner and advisor to Aberdeen University’s  Geophysics M.Sc. course.

I have a degree in Geophysics & Mathematics from Reading University, and a diploma in economics from the Open University, and have published over 13 technical papers and presented at industry conferences.
